Three Young Adults became ambassadors for CarFest 2024

Ebony, Jamie and Jack, young adults that all attend Jacksplace regularly became ambassadors for Naomi House & Jacksplace at CarFest for the first time. They attended the festival and spoke on the main stage with Chris Evans about their experience at the hospice. They then got the opportunity to enjoy the festival; watching the cars, seeing Olly Murs and attending a Pimm’s picnic!

Car Fest was such an incredible opportunity for our young adults from Jacksplace to enjoy a family festival experience with their peers. Not only was it wonderful to be able to access the festival itself and see our young adults enjoying the social aspect, but there were also some real magical moments that I believe will be lasting memories from a great weekend.

From a stage appearance and being interview by Chris Evans, watching some brilliant music and bands, being invited to a VIP Pimm’s picnic and fulfilling a love of cars, I feel privileged to have been part of their experience.

Watching members of the public hug and high five our young adults after their stage appearance was heart-warming and incredibly special and it sums up what a wonderful and important event this really is!

Naomi House & Jacksplace are CarFest’s local charities and will receive 2% of funds raised at the festival. This year’s event didn’t disappoint, with around 120,000 visitors attending the family festival for fast cars, live music, fantastic food demos, activities, celebrities and much more.

Naomi House & Jacksplace were back in SpaFest this year and this year we were delighted that some of our play team support the event by designing our set up! They were delighted at the opportunity to showcase our hospices and the activities that we provide for our families when they come to us so over the course of the weekend, we had remote control car painting, craft activities such as festival wands, rainmakers and wrist/slap bands, there was also sensory and messy play including car turf trays with different textures and smells including foam and ballons. Finally, for those who may have wanted the opportunity to have a bit of quiet time, there was a black out sensory tent that had an assortment of tactile, light up toys and equipment to enhance the space and provide a calming environment.

Created by Chris Evans to raise funds for UK’s children’s charities, CarFest is the largest family fundraising festival in the UK. Over the last 10 years, the event has raised over £20 million for its charity partners

Thank you CarFest for inviting us back this year, your support will help us continue to be there for children and young adults when they need us most, on the good days, the difficult days and the last days.
