On Sunday 1st December, Winchester was transformed into a sea of red and white as hundreds participants donned their Santa t-shirts for our annual Winchester Santa Fun Run.
Celebrating its milestone 15th year, the Santa Fun Run reached its 4th highest registration numbers ever, with every single 750 spots selling out! Currently the event has raised over £20k for our hospices with more still expecting to come in.
It's a brilliant experience for a great cause
Despite the wet weather, the festive spirit was high as the day began with a lively warm-up to get everyone in the holiday mood. From there, a jolly army of Santas took to the streets of Winchester, embarking on a picturesque 5k route that showcased some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the King Alfred Statue and Winchester Cathedral. The run concluded outside the Guildhall, where participants were greeted by a magical flurry of snow and cheers from enthusiastic supporters.
This year, participants wore festive Santa t-shirts instead of traditional Santa suits, a change that was met with enthusiasm. The t-shirts are part of our efforts to reduce waste from events and focus on becoming more sustainable, a move that was greatly appreciated by attendees.
Thank you to every Santa who took part on Sunday morning and for your generous support. It was great to see so many donning our brand new Santa t-shirts and having a fantastic time. Santa Fun Run is a popular tradition in Winchester and I'm pleased to see so many have already registered for 2025, with this year being sold out. It is important for us to raise funds at Christmas so we can continue to provide magical moments for the children, young adults and families who use our hospice services.
Missed out this time? Don’t worry! The Winchester Santa Fun Run will be back next year, bigger and better than ever. Mark your calendars, start practicing your "ho-ho-hos," and join us for another unforgettable day of festive cheer while supporting a truly wonderful cause.
