Outright Games makes video game donation

Last week, global video games publisher, Outright Games visited Naomi House & Jacksplace making a donation of 80 video games, 3 consoles and 4 adaptive controllers worth over £3,500.

This special donation of adaptive controllers, opens up the enjoyment of video gaming to children and young adults who may not be able to use a standard controller. Playing games with adaptive controllers, gives children and young adults the independence they often crave and improves communication and socialisation.

Stephanie Malham, Managing Director at Outright Games, said:

We're honoured to support Naomi House as their incredible work touches so many lives. We hope these games and consoles bring joy to the children, guests, families, and staff at the hospice. With our UK headquarters down the road in Lee-On-The-Solent we are practically neighbours, this is a small way for us to give back to our community and we look forward to finding other ways to continue supporting their excellent work.

Gaming is a wonderful hobby that many children and young adults who visit our hospices enjoy. Lucy, a young adult who visits Jacksplace and loves video games, even participated in our annual gaming fundraiser Game On! raising over £6,000 for our hospices!

Chris Meany, Supporter Services Advisor at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

Gaming is such an important hobby for so many of the children and young adults that visit Naomi House & Jacksplace. Granting freedom through independent gaming, whilst also allowing them to connect with friends. From our first exchange of emails with Outright Games, we knew their support would be so special. Their generous donation of consoles and games was so incredible to receive. We are so very thankful for their generosity.

Our Play team tailor all activities to encourage communication and socialisation. When families visit our hospices, the child or young adult’s care needs are managed by the care team, so that families and friends can focus on being together and creating memories.

Claire Potterton, Play & Activities Team Leader at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

Our Play & Activities team work hard to create special memories for the children, young adults and families who spend time at Naomi House & Jacksplace. Gaming is a really positive activity at the hospices, it can help children and young adults open up and talk while they're playing. With adaptive controllers the games become so much more accessible and this opens up even more opportunities for connection. It's also great fun for siblings, too!

Thank you Outright Games for visiting us and for this special donation that will bring joy to the children and young adults who visit our hospices.
