During the August bank holiday weekend, the Naomi House & Jacksplace fundraising team were delighted to attend CarFest South for the second year in a row, joined by a huddle of our lovely nurses.
Naomi House & Jacksplace are one of CarFest South’s local charities and will receive 1% of funds raised at the festival. This year’s event didn’t disappoint, with more than 75,000 visitors attending the family festival for fast cars, live music, fantastic food demos, activities, celebrities and much more.
Naomi House & Jacksplace were located in SpaFest and our team had a great time surrounded by calming music, yoga, delicious vegan and vegetarian food and beautifully decorated mocktails! Fitting into ‘SpaFest’, all about health and wellbeing; Naomi House & Jacksplace brought back its very popular mobile sensory zone filled with beanbags, twinkling lights, a mobile ball pit and sensory toys, providing a popular space for people to chill out and relax. We also brought our Activities Zone, where children and adults could make lavender bags, cards and take part in remote control car painting whilst hearing all about the range of activities that our team create for the children and young adults who access our services.
This year we were delighted that some of our nurses were able to join us for the festival alongside our fundraising staff and ambassadors. So, as well as being able to enjoy the festival for the first time, they had a great time talking to families about their first-hand experiences working at Naomi House & Jacksplace.
We had an amazing time - it was such a fantastic atmosphere and wonderful to talk to all of the kind festival go-ers about our brilliant charity.
This year, we were also given the opportunity to attend the broadcast of ‘The Chris Evans Breakfast Show’ live from CarFest South and a ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ to meet and celebrate CarFest’s ‘Royal Families’ who have all raised significant funds for the festival’s charities. Our Community Fundraiser, Louise Gough, also had the opportunity to talk on-stage to the wonderful crowd, with Chris Evans himself, about the important work we do.
CarFest was founded by Chris Evans and has raised over £20 million for children’s charities in the UK over the last 11 years and we are thrilled to now be a part of this. For 2023, CarFest will bring the north and south festivals together to create ‘One Big CarFest’ at Laverstoke Park Farm for the August Bank Holiday (August 25-27, 2023). Limited Early Bird Tickets will soon be available. For more information, visit: carfest.org.
Thank you CarFest for inviting us back this year, your support will help us continue to be there for children and young adults when they need us most, on the good days, the difficult days and the last days.
