We recently spoke with Kieran’s mum, Lisa, about their experience of discovering Jacksplace, the only hospice for life limited and life threatened young adults in central southern England.
Lisa said:
When Kieran became too old for our local children’s hospice, we had to look elsewhere. We couldn’t find any suitable respite support for Kieran, until we heard about Jacksplace. Kieran has only had a handful of visits so far, so we are still getting to know everyone.
Kieran is able to relax from his everyday routines, have some fun and make new friends and we know that he is being looked after safely.
He loved it on one of his visits when Father Christmas flew into the hospice by helicopter, as he loves the colour, music and sparkle of Christmas, so that was a lovely stay for him. He loves music, swimming, eating and anything really!
For us, we are able to leave Kieran in a safe environment and not have to worry about his routine. We have twice, booked a holiday cottage locally with our dog, Milo, which means we can have a relaxing break, but we are nearby if we are needed.
