Father & Son conquer New York Cycle Challenge

Father and son holding medals after cycle challenge in New York City

Trevor lives in Newbury and Richard, his youngest son, lives in New York City. When Richard invited him to take on the epic 5 Boroughs Cycle Challenge in New York City, Trevor saw the perfect opportunity to raise some funds for Naomi House & Jacksplace.

Having previously supported the hospices at the Reading Half Marathon around 10 years ago, Trevor was keen to fundraise for Naomi House & Jacksplace once again.

On 7th May along with 32,000 other riders, the father and son team cycled 47 miles proudly sporting their Naomi House & Jacksplace cycle jerseys.

Trevor and Rich received wonderful support from their friends and family and raised a fantastic total of £671 which will make a huge difference to the care that the hospices provide.

My son invited me to New York this year to do the 5 Boroughs Cycle Challenge with him and I thought it was another excellent opportunity to support a great charity. It made it an extra special day to think we have also provided a little bit of help to those who need it.

‘It was a privilege to support Trevor and Rich in their fantastic fundraising effort for the hospices. They were very determined to make a difference and the challenge looked incredible – what an achievement! It was so wonderful to see our hospices represented in New York City!

The whole experience has been brilliant. To do a ride like this with my youngest son Rich was such a moment for me. We did very well on getting around and managed to miss the pot holes and other riders
