On Sunday 13 September, more than 370 walkers took to the Clarendon Way to support Naomi House & Jacksplace. The Clarendon Way Walk, which was postponed from June 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, successfully went ahead, filled with smiling faces, ambitious feet and beaming sunshine.
Different measures were put in place to ensure the walk was safe, including participants starting at differently timed intervals, socially distanced pit stops, electrostatically cleaned toilets and pitstops, hand washing stations and more. Walkers from across the south started at Winchester Cathedral and took on the 26 mile marathon walk to Salisbury. Some participants took part in the halfway 12 mile walk from Broughton, and some also walked 5 miles from Pitton in Naomi House & Jacksplace’s new addition to this year; Mini Clarendon. 55 walkers also took part in Naomi House & Jacksplace’s new virtual walking event this weekend, Your Clarendon Way Walk, where they walked a distance and route of their choice for Naomi House & Jacksplace.
Keith Wilson, Head of Marketing at Naomi House & Jacksplace, took part in the marathon hike. He said:

We are delighted to have been able to finally host our 14th Clarendon Way Walk event this year, at this slightly later date in September. Local walkers brought along an abundance of energy, camaraderie and support for Naomi House & Jacksplace and we are so grateful to everyone that took part. Thank you also to all of the virtual walkers that took on the new ‘Your Clarendon Way Walk ‘ this weekend to support Naomi House & Jacksplace.
Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we had to cancel the new aspects of our Clarendon Way Walk this year, including a 26 mile night hike, and a 52 mile night and day trek from Salisbury to Winchester and back again. But, ambitious walkers need not fret, as we have launched a new date for 2021 to bring Ultimate Clarendon back - 11th - 12th September 2021. Entry is now open for this event, our biggest ever challenge, and we are offering 20% off registration fees for a limited time only. So, if you enjoyed the Clarendon Way Walk this year, or feel you missed out, sign up now for an adventure in 2021!”
Thank you to everyone that made the event possible, from all of our brilliant walkers, to the volunteers and staff that assisted on the day.
